Discover the Easter eggs in your everyday apps
When you’re part of a large team churning out line after line of code in order to build a spreadsheet, word processor or web browser, there’s not that much scope for fun.
You’re just an anonymous cog in a big software machine and no one is ever going to know who you are.
That’s why Easter eggs were born…

Another one from Google’s calc: google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&am …

I don’t understand this one at all.
1.2.2009
It’s not an easter egg, it’s a math precision error.
1.2.2009
What a crappy article. It rambles on about easter eggs, and only half-heartedly describes them, sometimes not even telling you how to get to the eggs themselves. Not even any pictures or screenshots. What the hell?
1.2.2009
agreed I want to know how to play tetris in utorrent. They mention that it’s there, but don’t even explain how to get to it.

Douglas Adams is in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy..? He died in May of 2001, production did not begin until April of 2004…

His head appeared as a planet in one scene, and there was a painting of him and his wife somewhere on the ship, I think. There are more references to him in the movie, but I can’t remember where. His nose is in at least one scene, apparently! He also appeared in the TV series a few times back in the eighties.
1.2.2009
at the end of the movie, as the ship is turning into random things one of those is adams face.

Car game in excel 2000 was pretty kool at school.
1.2.2009
kool was pretty cool in school too
1.2.2009
Personally, I type "kool" pretty often just because K is so much closer to O and L on a qwerty keyboard.(I purposely avoid it here on digg because I know people will bitch about it.)

Thank you for this exciting discovery! I feel like I am immune to cancer already.

Hi,Sorry about the ‘light simulator’ typo. This article was copy and pasted from a PDF from one of our sister publications, and there’s a strange bug that leaves out the ‘f’ when there’s an ‘f’ and ‘l’ together. That doesn’t excuse it, but hopefully it explains it. We’re looking into it, and have corrected the article.Apologies for that.Cheers,NickEditor in chief

I put an Easter Egg on a system I wrote for the U of Mich hospital back in the 80’s. If you logged in near midnight i drew a champange glass with bubbles. All on a PDP-11 with dumb terminals.I wonder if anyone noticed.

I burned a backup CD for a website I designed for a company, and buried something like 10 folders deep was a standalone slot machine I made in college. I doubt anyone’s ever seen it – though I imagine if they had to reupload the website, they’d just reload the contents of the CD onto the net. I guess the exe file would reside on their server somewhere.
