A new class action lawsuit against United States telecommunications provider, AT&T, claims that the company systematically overstated data usage by 7 – 14% and at times up to 300% on users’ iPhone and iPad data plans.

According to lawyers for the suit, they have spent over $80,000 in testing iPhones on AT&T’s network to prove that the company is indeed overstating data usage. As part of the testing, all 3G services were turned off on the devices. Despite this, there were still 35 transactions for data usage on the AT&T phone bill.

According to the attorneys, the costs to some users may indeed be relatively small, anywhere from $10 to $15 per month, however, AT&T were still illegally reaping huge profits from overstating data usage on millions of iPhone user’s bills.

AT&T responded to the claims saying they are without merit. According to the carrier, users do not take into account automatic app updates in the background many users are not aware of.

According to a press release from Sony, Ohga passed away on Saturday the 23rd of April at the age of 81. The cause of death was multiple organ failure.

For all his achievements over the years he helmed Sony, Ohga received national recognition in 1988 when he was presented with the Japanese Medal of Honor with Blue Ribbon. In 2001 he was presented with the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure. In France Ohga was also presented with the country’s highest decoration, the Legion of Honor. He was also bestowed with decorations from Germany, Italy and Austria for his achievements.

It is a sad day when the world, and in particular the technology world, has to say good-bye to a tech-giant who revolutionized the technology which forms part of our daily lives today.

Research in Motion (RIM), makers of the BlackBerry, confirmed today that it will filter pornographic Internet content for its BlackBerry smartphone users in Indonesia. The announcement comes after continued government pressure on the company to stop access to pornographic content or face its browsing service being shut down in the country.

Indonesia currently has around 2 million BlackBerry users and has also requested RIM to open a local server, part of demands by a number of countries in order to gain access to its encrypted user data.

Research in Motion said in a statement that it shares Minister Tifatul Sembirings’ sense of urgency on the matter and it is fully committed to working with Indonesian carriers in putting in place a prompt, compliant filtering solution for BlackBerry subscribers in the country as soon as possible.

Indonesia is one of Research in Motion’s faster-growing markets, with an estimated gross domestic product growth of 6%.

The BlackBerry device has for long been known for its system security and a compromise to government agencies under pressure could damage the device’s popularity amongst business, banking, financial and political professionals making use of the device, especially due to its security.

The anti-porn law was passed in 2008 in Indonesia and has been seen by many as the growing influence of conservative Islam in policy-making. Sembiring’s calls for more Internet censorship have caused a public outcry in Indonesia.

Many analysts speculate that RIM’s move in censoring the Internet may lead to a demise in its popularity in Indonesia and may lead to the company losing a large number of active users of the divice.

You can literally find tons of other great apps to manage your time, life and work on the iTunes marketplace by doing a simple search in the app. The above apps are all excellent for the task, and you’d be hard pressed to find something that is much better. You should definitely try them out when you get the chance.

According to statistics, 2011 is looking like a good year for smartphones when retail prices could drop to $100 and less. The results will likely be that smartphone sales will bypass the half-a-billion mark, according to market research firm IDC.

According to a report in 2010 more than 270 million smartphones were sold. This is up from 174 million in 2009.

According to Seth Weintraub, in Fortune, the acceleration in 2011 will be fueled by improved wireless networks and cheaper hardware prices. This will, in turn, lead to improved competition between carriers and spur them to improve their current networks.

Jim Tran of Business for Broadcom, global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, also told Fortune that phones made from its chipsets will retail for under $100. According to him these low prices could open emerging markets in Asia, which will create a huge demand.

The new app, called VerbalVictor, allows parents and caregivers to take pictures and record phrases to go with them. These will become ‘buttons’ on the device’s screen, which people, like Victor, can touch when they wish to communicate.

As example, a picture of the backyard can be accompanied by the words “I want to play outside” and when touched, parents and caregivers will know that the person wants to do.

The app is expected to be available in the App Store by early next week and will be sold at a fee of $10.

Hefner founded Playboy Magazine back in 1953. He was already married twice to Mildred Williams and Kimberley Conrad, which ended in divorces in 1959 an earlier in 2010 respectively.

In 1953 Hefner put together the first issue of Playboy Magazine with a cover featuring a calendar photo of Marilyn Monroe on the kitchen table in his flat.
