Google Announces Android@Home Framework

As Android keeps growing and aims for that top spot in mobile operating systems, it recently announced that Android fans will now get more Android in their homes!

According to Google, every home appliance could be a potential accessory for your phone. Google teased with functions like turning lights on and off based on calendar events, games automatically adjusting for mood lighting, applications talking to washing machines and more.

Another demo displayed by Google was an Android-powered device hub dubbed the Tungsten. Making use of RFID embedded into CD cases, the device was able to detect the CD and add it to a library. One more touch and it started automatically.

The opportunities appear seemingly endless, and we do look forward to see what Google will release in the near future that will make small home automation tasks as easy as hitting a few keyboard notes on your mobile device!
