Warner Introduce Pay-per-View and Video on Demand Services in China
Piracy is a very common phenomenon in China, but this has not stopped Warner Bros from launching the China’s first national Pay-per-View and Video on Demand service.

Users in the country can now look forward to a number of new movies, amongst which the new Harry Potter that will be displayed on the You on Demand platform, and which will also be distributed to Chinese living rooms via China Home Cinema, a branch of CCTV-6.

According to an estimate by You On Demand, the new service will be available in about 3 million homes in China by the end of this summer. The service will also have the potential to reach 200 million cable-equipped households in the country.

The new service could possibly be a potential goldmine for Warner – that is if people in the world’s largest piracy-rated country are willing to move away from piracy and pay for their movie entertainment.
