From the bits and pieces of information coming afore after the announcement of the new Wii U, it would appear as if Nintendo has decided to build the entire device on its own proprietary goodies. This is quite evident after it was announced that the device will not be compatible with current DVDs and Blu-Ray discs.
The information has been made public in an investor Q&A session by Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata.
It seems quite odd that Nintendo have decided to go this route when one looks at the number of people still making use of DVDs and Blu-Ray discs on devices like the PlayStation 3.
It has been reported earlier that investors were not fond of the new system, and it now becomes quite apparent why they may have fears that the device may pose a risk to the company in the future.
