iPad Will Dominate the Tablet Market with Minimal Impact on PC Sales – Analyst
Stacy Rasgon, an analyst with Sanford Bernstein, released a 49-page paper focusing on the current and future markets for consumer tablets. Naturally, Rasgon credits Apple with birthing the tablet market and believes that the iPad will dominate the tablet market indefinitely.

According to the paper, the iPad sold 19.5 million devices in its first year since its release. This is twice the amount of netbooks and three times the number of iPhones sold in the same period of time.

Rasgon says that he sees the tablet market exploding over the next couple of years, with annual sales growing to 215 million units by the end of 2015. Rasgon also referenced a Bernstein survey indicating that a number of 20% of consumers plan to purchase a tablet within the next year.

In the paper Rasgon also state that there should not be fear in regards to PC sales, since he sees that there will be minimal impact on these sales from the coming tablet boom.

With tablets becoming smaller, more mobile and featuring more technological advances we tend to think that more and more consumers would rather opt-in for the tablet. We suppose we should wait and see over coming years how the tablet will really impact sales of the normal PC.
